Full Court Gym Floor Covering, John Carroll University

John Carroll University covered 36,000 square feet of new hardwood with 30 rolls of 22 oz gray vinyl to host its Admitted Student Celebration inside the school's Athletic, Wellness and Event Center. Each roll measures 10 feet wide by 120 feet long, enough to protect the full multipurpose court while a stage, catering stations, and several hundred guests occupied the floor.

Why cover a new hardwood floor for a campus event?

The court was new. John Carroll's 125,000 square foot Athletic, Wellness and Event Center opened in 2025 with hardwood striped for basketball, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball, which makes every square foot of it playing surface for four programs.

An admissions event puts loads on that surface it was never designed to carry. The celebration brought a full stage, rows of folding chairs, cocktail and catering tables, chafing equipment, and several hundred people in street shoes. Point loads from table and stage legs, grit tracked in from outside, and spills from food service are the three things that mark a new floor fastest.

How much covering does a full court event need?

  • Roll dimensions: 10 feet wide by 120 feet long
  • Coverage per roll: 1,200 square feet
  • Rolls deployed: 30
  • Total coverage: 36,000 square feet
  • Material: 22 oz gray vinyl

Why choose a 22 oz floor cover?

22 oz sits in the middle of the weight range and is the standard recommendation on large-quantity orders. At full-court scale, the middle weight balances puncture resistance against the reality of moving and storing thirty rolls.

How often does a full court covering get reused?

The product was delivery to the university in October 2025, and they deployed the covers across multiple events since, including the Admitted Student Celebration shown here.

"This was the first time we put down all 30 covers we ordered, and it looked amazing. Families and attendees kept telling me how nice it looked," said Matt Clark, Director of Recreation for the Center of Student Engagement at John Carroll University.

Note: The university took delivery in October 2025 and has deployed the covers across multiple events since.
